Pillars of Pi Theta

Sisterhood, Service, Social

Sisterhood                           Service                       Social

A sorority cannot exist without the vital component of sisterhood. Pi Theta strives to strengthen this core value within its members by hosting sisterhood events, social functions, and service projects. We pride ourselves on knowing not only the first and last name of every active member of our sorority, but also knowing each girl as a person, not just a member.

Pi Theta's Sisterhood Committee organizes sisterhood events throughout the school year. Past events have included pizza parties, movie nights, potluck style Thanksgiving dinners, and BBQ's at off-campus members' houses. During pledging season, we also have sorority eats once a week in the cafe where we get together for lunch and have the chance to catch up when we otherwise might be too busy to do so.

The sisterhood of Pi Theta extends beyond time that we organize to spend with each other. Any time you walk through the Tarble third floor lounge, you are bound to find Pi Thetas studying together, listening to music, or just hanging out. We love to spend time together outside of meetings and organized events. To many of its members, Pi Theta means always having somebody there for you when you need someone to get something to eat with, go out with on the weekend, or help you through a hard time.

Every group enjoys giving back to the community that supports it, and Pi Theta is no exception. Each semester, members participate in two or more service projects on Carthage campus or in the surrounding community. Because Pi Theta is a local sorority, we are not limited to a specific philanthropy, which gives us the option to do service projects that we are passionate about. Sometimes, our Service Committee organizes service projects with other Greek organizations to help build inter-Greek relations.

Some of the service projects Pi Theta has done this semster and in the past include:

  • Trunk or Treat

  • Trick or Treat for Canned Good

  • Puppy-Chow for Pit Bulls

  • Flip Cup for Breast Cancer

  • And many more to come!

Pi Theta is a social sorority, in every aspect of the label. When we have the chance to relax, we enjoy having a good time with our sisters. In addition to our sisterhood events, Pi Theta has four social functions a year, planned by the Junior and Senior Social Chairs.

  • Black Magic: Black Magic takes place in October and is our annual Halloween dance. Every year, the Pi Thetas dress up for Halloween and dance the night away. We have awards for Best Costume, and any Pi Theta will tell you that Black Magic is one of the best functions of the year.

  • Semi-Formal: Semi-Formal is our Christmas party and takes place in December before winter break and finals. It includes a dinner and a dance, as well as a special surprise for your date!

  • Spring Fling: After we all return from J-Term and the new semester is in full swing, Pi Theta hosts Spring Fling, usually sometime in March. Essentially the second semester version of Black Magic, Pi Thetas dress up in summer clothes for Spring Fling to welcome the (hopefully) warm weather!

  • Formal: Formal is the pinnacle of social events for Pi Theta. An event considered the seniors' "last hooray" before graduating it never ceases to impress. The girls get dressed up and spend the weekend away together before they have to start worrying about finals. Awards are given out for a multitude of things, including "Most Pi Thetalicious."
